Hubli, Karnataka: In a dramatic turn of events on Monday, Hubballi police shot and apprehended a robbery accused who tried to escape after assaulting officers near the Tarihal Bridge on the city outskirts. The incident took place while the accused, identified as Vinod, was being taken to the crime scene for investigation by the Bendigere Police Station team.
Vinod, who is involved in three robbery cases in Bendigere and Kasabapet areas and has a total of 17 cases registered against him across the Hubballi-Dharwad Commissionerate, attacked the police during the site inspection. In response, Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Jayashree Chalavadi fired a warning shot. When Vinod continued his attempt to flee, PSI Chalavadi shot him in the leg to prevent his escape.
Both PSI Jayashree Chalavadi and constable Ramesh Hittalamani sustained injuries during the altercation and were immediately taken to KMC-RI Hospital for treatment. The situation is now under control, and Vinod is in custody. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure a thorough resolution of the case.
